Relationships in Fields of Mistria are a route through the same town, farm, seasons, cooking, fishing, and festivals that drive the rest of the game. A relationship plan should answer three questions: who do you want to know, what can you reliably give or do, and which heart event or life milestone is the next reason to change your schedule? This hub connects gifts and birthdays, dating and heart events, and the 1.0 proposal, wedding, marriage, and family systems.

Official 1.0 scope: Steam AppID 2142790, public 1.0 branch, Windows and SteamOS + Linux. The developer's 1.0 notes confirm heart level 10, proposal events, wedding and marriage, children, post-marriage dialogue, and date changes. Character preferences and event details require current lookup and should not be treated as permanent without a check date.

Choose a relationship route

Start with a goal rather than a list of every NPC. A new player may want one reliable friendship, a dating route, a proposal route, or a collection of special items from 10-heart events. The Gifts and Birthdays guide is best when the immediate question is what to carry to town. Heart Events and Dating is for the sequence from conversation to date and heart event. Marriage and Family covers 1.0 milestones after dating.

Choosing one route does not mean ignoring the rest of town. Talk naturally when a route crosses your farm or request path, but keep rare gifts and meals reserved for the NPC or milestone you actually selected. A broad friendship plan is forgiving; a proposal plan needs more deliberate calendar and item tracking.

Gifts, birthdays, and reliable preparation

The practical gift loop is simple: identify the character, inspect current preference evidence, prepare a repeatable item, and carry a backup when the main item is seasonal or expensive. The gift page separates official 1.0 systems from community-maintained preference tables. It should not imply that a searched list is an official guarantee. When a preference is unclear, use a low-risk item and record the result rather than spending a rare Museum or request item.

Birthdays deserve a separate reminder because they can change the value of a trip. Before the date, check the season, the source of the intended gift, and whether a recipe needs a kitchen upgrade. Keep one item in reserve rather than crafting it on the birthday morning. If the item cannot be obtained in time, a normal conversation and a future plan are better than selling a needed collection item to force a gift.

Heart levels and dating

Heart progress is not only a number. It opens dialogue, events, date opportunities, and at 1.0 the 10-heart proposal content. Use Heart Events and Dating to distinguish daily conversation, gift value, dates, and event triggers. Do not skip a heart event because a guide says it is “next”; enter the place and time shown by the current game, and read the event result before planning the following one.

The official 1.0 notes say dates increase heart level more and that 10-heart proposal events can be retriggered with an Engagement Ring until the player chooses to propose. That creates an important choice: collect the special event items first or commit to engagement. The page should explain the decision without telling every player to follow one path. If the save dates multiple characters, read the official status behavior before confirming a proposal.

Marriage and family at full release

Marriage, weddings, children, engagement dialogue, and post-marriage routines are released 1.0 systems. The official FAQ says saves carry over to 1.0, existing accomplishments can grant achievements retroactively, and the player controls whether to have a baby. The official 1.0 notes also say wedding details such as flower color, cake flavor, and the reception meal can be customized through planning dialogue.

The Marriage and Family guide treats these as choices, not mandatory endings. Before engagement, decide whether you want to collect all 10-heart special items, whether a wedding customization matters to you, and whether you are comfortable with the documented relationship-status change for other people you were dating. Save planning is part of the route because the official FAQ says old saves carry forward, but the exact experience can still differ by patch and localization.

Relationship days and farm days

A good relationship day starts after the farm chores that cannot wait. Carry a gift, check the board, and take a route through the NPC’s current location rather than crossing the map repeatedly. Cooking and fishing can support a relationship route, but do not turn every cooking action into a gift plan. Keep a second route for when the ingredient is needed by a request or Museum set.

Festivals and seasonal events are useful because they place many characters on a shared calendar, but they can also have date-specific behavior. Use current event text and the Updates page after patches. If an event does not trigger, do not infer that a heart level is permanently broken; check the date, location, relationship state, and latest official fixes first.

Recovery and boundaries

If you gave the wrong gift, continue with a repeatable item. If you missed a birthday, record the next chance. If a heart event did not appear, recheck the current requirement instead of using a late Early Access guide. If you were dating multiple characters, read the official 1.0 behavior before engagement. If a localization line is missing, remember the official FAQ described beta translations at launch and the v1.0.2 notes added further translation work.

Sources and limits

The official 1.0 patch notes and FAQ and Steam Store identity were checked 2026-08-09. Community gift and character guides are useful for lookup but do not replace current in-game dialogue or official version notes.
