Fields of Mistria rewards a calm loop: make a short plan, spend the day on one or two useful jobs, then turn the result into a better farm, a stronger relationship, a town improvement, or a new route. This hub is the place to begin when you do not yet know whether your next day should be spent watering crops, visiting villagers, entering the mines, fishing, or filling a request. It is written for the Steam base game on the public 1.0 branch. The official 1.0 release added the completed Town Repair Questline, Town Rank progression, heart level 10, proposal events, marriage, children, a completable Museum, and achievements, so older Early Access advice can be incomplete.
Start with a single answer
If you are opening the game for the first time, use the beginner guide. If you already understand the basic controls, use first week planning to give each day a purpose. If the town feels slow or you are unsure which request matters, open town start and connect your farm work to Town Rank and repair progress. These pages are deliberately different: the beginner route explains the loop, the first-week page explains calendar decisions, and town start explains progression choices.
Before leaving home, look at three things: the weather or season, the crops and animals that need attention, and the one unlock you want before sleeping. This prevents a common mistake in life-sim games: doing many pleasant activities without completing the action that would have changed tomorrow. A day can include fishing or gathering, but it should still have a main outcome.
The daily planning loop
Begin with the work that can expire or grow more valuable when done early. Water crops and check animal care before a long trip. Then choose a route that groups locations together. A town visit can include villagers, requests, shops, and a delivery. A mine visit can include mining, combat, archaeology, and a return trip for crafting. A coast or river route can combine fishing, forage, and relationship errands. The exact stamina cost depends on your tools, skill progress, food, and current version, so use the game interface for live values rather than memorizing a fixed spreadsheet.
Write the day’s objective in a concrete form: “deliver the request and talk to two villagers,” “reach a safer mine checkpoint,” or “collect enough seasonal items to test one Museum set.” At midday, ask whether the route is still serving that objective. If not, stop the optional task and return to the main route. The value of a plan is not completing every activity; it is protecting the most important action from running out of time.
Where each system belongs
Farming is the dependable source of daily work and ingredients. Use the Farming hub for crops, seasons, animals, and cooking. Skills turn repeated actions into permanent options; Skills explains how perks and tools shape your next investment. Town progression converts deliveries and quests into access, so Town is the right place for repair, rank, requests, and the Bell Tower. Relationships are not a side spreadsheet: gifts, dates, proposal events, marriage, and family each change how you plan days, and they are collected under Relationships. Finally, use Collections when the goal is a Museum set or a seasonal item gap rather than immediate income.
Do not treat these hubs as mutually exclusive builds. A farm day can produce a cooking ingredient for a villager gift. A mine trip can provide an archaeology item and material for a tool. A request can point you toward a fish that is also needed for a collection. Choose the first goal, then use the other systems as supporting routes.
Recover when a day goes wrong
If you miss watering, lose time in the mines, or forget a birthday, do not restart automatically. First identify whether the consequence is reversible. A missed conversation can usually become a future relationship task. A missed seasonal catch may be worth tracking for the next cycle. A failed mine trip can reveal a stamina, equipment, food, or route problem. A request that expires should be recorded as a future opportunity, not treated as proof that the whole save is ruined.
Keep a small note with the season, the item or NPC you missed, and the reason. Then change only one thing on the next attempt. Changing the route, tool focus, gift plan, and spending plan at once makes it impossible to know what helped. The first week guide is especially useful for this kind of adjustment because it separates urgent chores from optional exploration.
Use updates as a source of truth
The Updates hub records official release notes, not rumours. The 1.0 announcement added marriage, children, the completed town repair line, a complete Museum, achievements, new perks, and new market and Bell Tower quests. v1.0.1 and v1.0.2 then fixed issues involving saves, the Animal Festival, the Bell Tower, the mines, animal interactions, crashes, performance overlays, and Simplified Chinese text. If a guide conflicts with the current menu or patch notes, prefer the current game and the dated official note. Do not apply an Early Access route to late-game 1.0 features without checking its scope.
Quick route by player goal
- I have never played: read Beginner, then pick one farm and one town objective.
- I lose days to chores: read First Week and group destinations into routes.
- I want access or town progress: read Town Start and use the request board deliberately.
- I want better crop output: start at Crops and Seasons, then connect ingredients to Cooking.
- I keep spending the wrong materials: read Skills and Perks before choosing a new specialization.
- I am planning romance: use Gifts and Birthdays before committing to a heart-event route.
- I am filling the Museum: use Museum Completion and track seasonal gaps rather than selling every duplicate.
Sources and limits
The official Steam Store page and Fields of Mistria Steam News were checked 2026-08-09. The hub summarizes the verified 1.0 scope and links to focused pages; it does not claim a complete item, recipe, NPC, or achievement database.
