Fields of Mistria Cooking Guide

Use Fields of Mistria cooking to extend a specific farm, mine, fishing, or relationship route while protecting requests and Museum items.

Cooking in Fields of Mistria is valuable when a meal changes the route you can complete. Before using an ingredient, decide whether the result supports a mine run, a fishing day, a gift, a request, or immediate sale. Then check the current kitchen tier and recipe state. The official 1.0 notes say previously inaccessible recipes became available and add a Cooking perk, so Early Access recipe advice can be incomplete.

Scope: Steam AppID 2142790 base game on the public 1.0 branch, Windows and SteamOS + Linux, checked 2026-08-09. Exact recipes, ingredients, values, and perk effects are current-game lookup data.

Cook for a route, not for a full menu

Choose the next route first. A mine meal should solve stamina, health, mana, or the return problem visible in your current run. A fishing meal should make a long coast or river loop practical. A relationship meal should use a repeatable ingredient and a confirmed preference. If there is no route, keep the ingredient in storage rather than crafting a dish simply because the recipe is unlocked.

Place three storage groups near the kitchen: ingredients for a known recipe, ingredients reserved for a request or gift, and surplus. Check the Museum or collection plan before spending a rare fish, bug, crop, or artifact. The Collections hub is the follow-up when an ingredient has a seasonal destination.

Read the kitchen tier and recipe state

When a recipe is unavailable, inspect the current kitchen or recipe screen instead of guessing the missing condition. A recipe may depend on a kitchen tier, a learned scroll, a shop, a quest, or an ingredient you have not encountered. The current Cooking reference helps find terminology, but the game’s menu is the final check for your save and version.

The 1.0 patch says previously inaccessible cooking recipes are now available in-game. That is an update-sensitive fact, not a reason to trust an old list that claims a recipe is permanently unavailable. If the menu still differs, note the version and check Updates before spending rare ingredients.

Farm the ingredient chain

Build a meal plan around ingredients your farm already produces. Crops, animal products, fishing, and gathering can each support a kitchen, but they also compete with Town requests and gifts. Plant a small ingredient plot, keep one reserve product, and test the route before expanding. If an animal product arrives irregularly, choose a backup meal or a different travel plan.

Use Cooking with Crops and Seasons rather than as a separate spreadsheet. If a recipe requires a seasonal item, mark the next season and avoid selling the only harvest. If a recipe is easy to repeat, cook a small batch before a long trip and keep the rest of the ingredients flexible.

Food for mining and relationships

For a mine trip, pack enough food for the problem you observed, not the maximum number from a generic guide. If the issue was stamina, choose a meal that improves the next route’s length. If it was combat recovery, consider a different meal or equipment plan. Stop cooking when the mine goal is complete; food should support a route, not force you to remain underground.

For a relationship route, verify the character and preference evidence. A meal can be a useful gift, but it may also be the only ingredient for a Town task. Keep one reserve when the source is seasonal. The Gifts and Birthdays guide explains how to combine meals with a town visit.

Mistakes and recovery

If you cooked the wrong recipe, use the meal on a route where it still helps rather than discarding it. If you spent a Museum item, note the next source. If the kitchen consumes too much time, pre-sort ingredients and cook on an indoor or low-travel day. If the result does not improve a mine or fishing trip, adjust the route or skill plan before crafting more.
