Fields of Mistria Beginner Guide

Start Fields of Mistria with a manageable first-day loop, storage plan, farm route, and first town or exploration objective.

Your first Fields of Mistria day should teach you the loop and leave tomorrow easier, not force you to touch every system. Start with the farm, learn the town route, keep one exploration goal, and store anything whose destination is unclear. This guide is for the Steam base game at 1.0; older Early Access videos may not include the completed Town Repair Questline, heart level 10, marriage, children, the complete Museum, or achievements.

Identity: Steam AppID 2142790, base game, public 1.0 branch, Windows and SteamOS + Linux. Exact stamina, prices, item availability, and event timing should be read from current tooltips and quest text.

First morning

Walk the farm before opening every menu. Identify the crop area, the nearest storage point, and the route to town. Complete the urgent farm action the game presents, then place only a compact amount of new work. A large field creates a daily obligation before you know how long town, fishing, or mining takes. Use leftover time to clear a short path or learn the tool animation rather than spending the whole day expanding.

Create three storage habits immediately. Keep active quest items together, keep possible Museum or seasonal items separate, and place confirmed surplus in a sale chest. The labels do not need to be perfect; they need to prevent the common error of selling the only item needed for a request, recipe, gift, or collection.

First town route

Walk into town after the urgent farm work. Read the request board, learn the shop and NPC locations, and talk to people on the route you are already taking. Choose one relationship or Town objective instead of trying to meet everyone. If you receive a delivery, carry it out while you are still nearby. The Town guide explains how repairs, Town Rank, requests, the Saturday Market, and Bell Tower progression connect in 1.0.

Do not accept a request only because the reward looks large. Check whether the item is in storage, in season, or available through a route you can complete. If not, note it and continue with a task that advances the farm or collection. A missed low-priority request is cheaper than wasting a whole day and selling a rare item to force it.

Pick your first exploration goal

Use one of three safe goals: gather a small group of seasonal items, fish along a route that also reaches town, or enter the mine only far enough to learn the room and return path. Carry food or a recovery option when the trip requires stamina. Do not enter the mine without a reason; a material for a tool, request, or Museum set gives the trip a stopping point.

The Farming hub is the right follow-up for crops, animals, and cooking. Skills is the right follow-up when a repeated action is becoming expensive. Collections is the right follow-up when an item should be stored instead of sold. A beginner route is successful when it produces one useful result and a clearer plan for the next day.

Spend and craft carefully

Early resources are flexible, so delay irreversible spending until you know what the item does. Read the crafting or upgrade requirement, check whether it competes with a request or Museum reserve, and build the item when it changes your route. A tool upgrade can be more useful than decorative crafting if it shortens a daily trip. A meal can be better than a sale when it lets you complete a long mine or fishing route.

If a skill or perk is available, spend it on the obstacle you actually meet. The Skills and Perks page explains how to choose without treating a community ranking as universal. Keep one main route for income and one support route for the next unlock; switching between every available system makes the save feel busy but slow.

A simple second-day review

Before sleeping, sort new items, write down the next request or Museum gap, and choose tomorrow’s main destination. Ask what went wrong: too many crops, too much walking, a mine return too late, or an item sold too early. Change one thing. If you missed a birthday or event, record the next opportunity rather than restarting the save automatically. The game is built around seasons and repeatable routes, so recovery is part of the intended loop.
